Learn more about the 2019 Board of Education Candidates

Board of Education Elections will take place on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 3:00-9:00PM at Miller and Bailey Middle Schools and Kingston High School.

This year, the Kingston City School District Board of Education has four seats open for elections. Three elected members will serve full 3-year terms, and one will serve a 2-year term. The three candidates who receive the most votes will serve 3-year terms from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022.  The candidate who receives the fourth highest vote count will serve a term that starts on May 22, 2019 and ends on June 30, 2021.

If I could achieve any one educational accomplishment while serving as a Board of Education member it would be . . .

As a teacher of Special and Regular Education for 20 years and as a High School and Primary School Principal for 12 years, I have learned the greatest thing leaders can do is build solid connections between the school and community. I would make it my highest priority to make sure the districts goals are in complete alignment with the goals of the community we serve. 

What do you view as the board of educations top priorities:

The top Priority of every school board should be the children. First, maintain plans to provide them a safe, productive learning environment. Second, maintain plans to recruit and support the finest teaching and Administrative talent for our children, and lastly maintain our role as the center of our communities cultural, educational community so that all of our children grow to become life long learners and an asset to the future of our nation. And third, be an effective advocate to secure the funding the district is owed from the state funding equation.

  • Creating a more inclusive and diverse culture throughout KCSD.
  • Insisting on excellence throughout schools, programs, faculty/staff/administration of KCSD.
  • Monitoring progress toward goals set by Administration.

To give every student the finest education in America and to have a graduation rate of 100% so that the students of KCSD can realize their dreams and jobs in the future. 

What do you view as the Board of Education's Top Priorities?

  1. To be good stewards of buildings and materials which are currently in use.
  2. Maintain student program while keeping a fiscally responsible budget.
  3. To give the students of the Kingston District the best 21st Century Education that this community can afford and to find other funding for this programming so that the burden does not choke the taxpayer.
